St Lucia: welcome to paradise

St Lucia: welcome to paradise

In Partnership with Sugar Beach, Viceroy Resort

Have you ever dreamt of a place with dramatically tapered mountains, volcanic beaches, reef diving, luxury service, trails in the rainforest leading to waterfalls and delicious food all in one place? I now know that this place exists. Welcome to Sugar Beach, Viceroy Resort, welcome to paradise.

From the moment we walked out of the tiny St Lucian airport we were in good hands. The personal taxi was waiting and in about 30 minutes our personal butler was checking us into our villa. He also booked us for a dinner in one of the resort’s restaurants.

Sugar Beach was built on the site of an 18th-century sugar plantation and surrounded by the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Pitons. Each villa is an indoor/outdoor paradise, elegantly designed in Plantation style.

Whether you prefer a slow beach holiday or more active escape, Sugar Beach has it all. After the first few days exploring resort and relaxing on the perfect beach I was ready for some action. I signed up for an exciting hike to Pitons Waterfall and it certainly was one of the highlight of the trip. We walked through incredible rainforest ending the hike with a shower under the hot volcanic waters, incredible!

One of the days we spent enjoying the Cabana Experience. It’s a lovely poolside hideaway that is all yours for a day. Swim, soak up the sun, lounge while enjoying food and drinks from the menu included in the experience: bottle of champagne, cocktail pitchers, local beers, soft drinks, tropical fruit platter, dips & crudité, sushi & sashimi platter so you don’t need to think about your lunch or dinner.

Last but not least - The Rainforest SPA. Just imagine a spa treatment in a rainforest treehouse. No words needed.

I might not be the best of writers but I can’t recommend this place enough and this paradise is less than 8 hours from Gatwick on the comfortable BA flight with very convenient schedule times!
